HOUSTON – A bond has been set for a man accused of holding a woman captive inside a trailer for four years, according to prosecutors.
Abraham Bravo Segura, 42, has been charged with kidnapping. His bond was set at $150,000.
Segura’s neighbors, who live off West Greens Road and Greens Crossing Boulevard in the Greenspoint area said they had their concerns about what was going on at his home.
“We did think it was weird because of how his house was set up,” one neighbor who did not want to be identified said. “He used to tell my husband that he worked at night so when we heard banging noises, we just assumed he was working.”
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call from a woman asking for help.
Deputies said all exits to the home were locked and three guns were found inside. They said they had to use power tools to get the woman out of the home.
During Segura’s first court appearance, he tried to plead his case.
“I feel like it’s just one side of the story,” Segura said in court.
Investigators told KPRC 2 that Segura and the woman were dating and a missing persons report was never filed.
“All the things they are saying about him are not true,” said one of Segura’s friends, Areli Contreras.
Contreras said she and her husband have been close friends with Segura for 20 years.
“The reason that he had the burglar bars and all the stuff y’all seen out there is because they tried to rob him before,” she explained. “He’s trying to protect her and protect himself too.”
The judge ruled for Segura not to have contact with the woman.
He is also not a U.S. citizen and could face deportation to Mexico, officials said.
