Allies in Hope partnering with Walgreens to promote National HIV Testing Day

In recognition of National HIV Testing Day, Allies in Hope (formerly AIDS Foundation Houston) is joining forces with Walgreens on Tuesday, June 27th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., to provide testing and raise awareness about HIV and emphasize the importance of regular testing.

Jeffrey Campbell, CEO of Allies in Hope, sat down on KPRC 2+ Now to talk about National HIV Testing day and free testing sites across Houston.

On National HIV Testing Day, Allies in Hope encourage individuals from all walks of life to get tested and know your status.

Participating Walgreens Locations:

  • 7929 Kirby Dr Houston, 77054
  • 2612 Smith Street Houston, 77006

This annual observance serves as a pivotal moment to promote testing, foster education, and combat the stigma surrounding HIV.

“We are excited to partner with Walgreens and KFF to bring free HIV/Hep C to our communities during National HIV Testing Day,” says Director of Prevention and Priority Populations Trista Crow. “It is an opportunity for our community to come together, raise awareness, and combat the stigma surrounding HIV. By encouraging testing and promoting education, we can empower individuals to take control of their health and create a future where HIV is stigma-free and rare, and everyone feels supported in knowing their status.”

National HIV Testing Day aims to encourage individuals to get tested for HIV, know their status, and take control of their health. With more than 1.2 million people in the United States living with HIV, including an estimated 14% who are unaware of their infection, testing remains a crucial element in the fight against this persistent health crisis.

Allies in Hope firmly believes that knowledge is power. Through their range of comprehensive services, they are committed to empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their sexual health and well-being.
