Prominent local pastor praying for answers after footage shows church annex burglarized

HOUSTON – A local pastor said two men who forced their way inside his church last Friday weren’t there to find the Lord.

Instead, he said they were looking for an opportunity to steal from the Community of Faith congregation, and that’s exactly what they did.

However, surveillance cameras caught them in the act.

“We need eyes open, and we need people to speak,” said Community of Faith pastor James Dixon.

Instead of a sermon, today, Pastor Dixon addressed the community with a plea for information.

“Unfortunately, we must report that our building was burglarized on the 23rd, which was last Friday between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m.,” he said.

Bishop Dixon said the congregation had just had a worship service that night, following a weeklong conference that drew in religious leaders from around the nation.

“There were criminals thinking about preying on the church at the same time. Not praying with us but preying on us,” he said.

While Dixon said the two thieves managed to get away with a safe containing undisclosed valuables, it seems they either didn’t realize or care that there were cameras capturing them in the act.

“These individuals are still free in our community and of course, criminals are always looking for the next victim,” Dixon said.

He’s praying that someone comes forward and calls the Houston Police Department’s Burglary Division with information.

“Nobody’s house should be threatened by burglaries of this nature, and certainly not God’s house.”
