Man killed, woman critically injured while trying to break into residence in west Houston, police say

HOUSTON – A man was killed and a woman was left critically injured as they tried to break into a residence in west Houston Saturday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

The shooting happened around 4:25 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 11300 block of Richmond Avenue, in Westchase area.

Police said the man, believed to be in his 20s and woman, believed to be in her 40s, tried to break into an apartment and the two residents inside tried to barricade the door.

Once the suspects broke through the barrier, the residents opened fire on them, killing the man and leaving the woman injured.

The woman was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where she remains at this time in critical condition.

Police said the relationship between the parties was not immediately known.
