DETROIT – A video is circulating on social media of R&B singer Monica who jumped off stage to confront a man following an altercation while headlining Detroit’s Riverfront Music Festival, KPRC 2′s sister station, ClickonDetroit.com reports.
Monica stopped mid performance and addressed the man in the crowd who she said she saw hit a woman, according to reports.

She reportedly got back on stage and explained to the audience what was going on. She apologized to the crowd and said it was a triggering moment for her. Monica did continue the show.
Monica shared the following comment with The Shade Room on Sunday:
“I apologized there and I’m apologizing here for my actions but no one would take action! I was so triggered, I watched and she didn’t appear to even know him! It appeared to be about space during a packed concert! He punched her with all his strength! My intentions were to prevent her from being hit again and she wasn’t! I asked for help, it fell on deaf ears! It was like seeing my mother or an aunt be assaulted!! This woman was 50+ I pray she’s OK!”
