2 dead in possibly gang-related shooting on Bissonnet Street in SW Houston

HOUSTON – Houston police said two people have been fatally shot in southwest Houston Saturday.

The shooting happened in the 8900 block of Bissonnet St. near Braeburn.

According to Yasar Bashir, Assistant Chief with HPD, it happened at approximately 5:39 p.m.

Bashir said two men were walking on the sidewalk at the location when a small four-door compact vehicle drove up.

The vehicle was occupied by multiple people. Bashir said a person got out of the vehicle and began shooting at the victims multiple times. The person then got back in the vehicle and it fled westbound on Bissonnet.

“One of the complainants, the victim who passed away is a documented gang member, and our initial facts that we gathered so far, we believe that it was not a random shooting. It appears to be targeted and it may have a gang nexus to it,” Bashir said.

The two victims, a man in his forties and a man in his 20s, were pronounced dead by the Houston Fire Department.

Police said the car was a lighter color. They are unsure at this time if it was silver or white.

If anyone has any information, you are asked to contact HPD’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
