HOUSTON – A man has been arrested and charged after shooting his wife to death and then barricading himself inside of his northeast Houston home for several hours, police said.
James Paul Anderson, 37, has since been charged with murder. He is accused of shooting his 34-year-old wife to death.
On Sunday, around 4:55 p.m., Houston police received a call from a woman who said her husband had threatened to shoot her. While on the phone with dispatchers, the woman was reportedly shot and killed.
When officers arrived at the home, they said they asked Anderson to come out, but he refused, only allowing his 3-year-old son to exit.
HPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team and SWAT responded to the home, and after several hours of negotiations, Anderson surrendered.
Officers checked the home and found Anderson’s wife unresponsive with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 3-year-old was taken to the hospital for observation.
Anderson was the Special Education Department Chair at Santa Fe Middle School in Cleveland Independent School District.
Cleveland ISD released the following statement:
