Officials with Texas City Police Department said a woman whose 76-year-old mother was found dead inside her home was arrested for murder.
According to Texas City PD, Sherene Lavett Washington-Harper, 54, was booked into Texas City PD Jail on Oct. 20. She is charged in the death of her mother, Irene Gray.

On Oct. 13, Gray was found dead inside her home on Amburn Road during a welfare check.
Investigators determined her injuries were consistent of gunshot wounds.
It is unclear at this time what led to Gray’s death.
Washington-Harper is held on a $250,000 bond.
