CYPRESS, Texas – A new clinic in Cypress has just opened with the goal of helping kids who have been diagnosed with autism and special needs.
The Essential Speech and ABA Therapy Cypress was created in an effort to emphasize early intervention while bringing three therapy practices under one roof.
Co-owner Roderick Batson said he was inspired to open the clinic after years of working with talented individuals who have been placed on the spectrum. Batson said his passion for this specific community began at his other establishment, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream.
“Howdy Homemade Ice Cream is an ice cream shop that employs individuals with special needs, and I own that,” Batson said. “So, dealing with those individuals and seeing their potential, it just led me to want to do more for that community.”
The clinic offers various different services such as behavioral therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.
Batson said one of their goals is to get children in these services before they head to school. Kids are accepted from 18 months to 6 years old.
“Hearing from those parents, and hearing that so many individuals with autism are on a waiting list. Then, it takes them so long to get in, and get services. It really kind of inspired me to want to jump in,” he added.
