17-year-old stabbed to death in Galleria area in fight, possibly over bag

HOUSTON – A 17-year-old girl has died after being stabbed in the Galleria area, Houston Police said.

The stabbing happened a little after 11 a.m. in the 5100 block of W. Alabama Street.

According to Assistant Chief Wyatt Martin with the Houston Police Department, an officer working extra employment in the area was flagged down and informed that two women were fighting in the area, possibly over a bag.

The officer said he then found the 17-year-old laying on the sidewalk with apparent stab wounds.

Martin said the officer called for the Houston Fire Department to assist. They arrived at 11:18 a.m. and saw the victim lying on the sidewalk, unresponsive. The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martin said the suspect is described as being in her mid an Asian female, 25 to 35 years old. The suspect was reportedly wearing black clothing and riding a blue “cruiser-style” bicycle. Officers said they have since found the bicycle however the suspect was not with it.

He added that they are currently looking for surveillance video of the incident.

Police are also not sure if there was any relationship between the suspect and the victim.
