According to the City of Houston Health Department, Flu cases have been trending upward over the past three weeks.
However, the weekly RSV count is down from previous weeks. COVID cases are also at a low number inside the city.
Montgomery County
According to the CVS Minute Clinic in Montgomery County, there are lots of flu cases there!
“Montgomery County is seeing both Flu A and Flu B,” said MinuteClinic physician assistant Erin Vierus. “We also have a rise in strep and respiratory allergies with the weather change, so it’s a good time for folks to come in for testing if they’re unsure what they’re up against.”
Humble
MinuteClinic Nurse Practitioner Serena Lopez said they have mostly flu and COVID cases in their clinic.
“We are also seeing patients with a viral URI that is causing exacerbations in asthmatic patients. Thankfully, we are able to quickly help them with their asthma symptoms at the clinic,” Lopez said.
Tips for fevers
Children’s Memorial Hermann Pediatrics in West University said if you’re able to control the fevers and stay hydrated, you’ll be OK.
However, if the fevers continue after that, with a cough, cold, and any other difficulties, see your doctor.
Wait until you are fever-free for 24 hours before returning to work, school, or daycare.
