HOUSTON – One of Houston’s largest animal rescues is urgently seeking fosters or forever homes for their over 185 animals in their care.

Special Pals is currently over capacity. The rescue said fosters are urgently needed from December 23 to December 27.

The rescue has 99 puppies (under 5 months of age), 35 dogs, 35 kittens and 16 cats in their care right now. All supplies needed for the animals’ care are provided to fosters.

The rescue said they are also overwhelmed with need at this time. Donations of any kind are welcome, including food, blankets, toys or financial contributions.

“We have been operating at capacity for over a year now and during the colder months and holiday season we see a huge jump in owner surrender and homeless pets coming into our care.  If people have a little extra room (and love) during the holidays for a furry houseguest, especially December 23 to December 27, we would love the opportunity to match them with one of our animals in need. We have all types, ages and breeds looking for fosters and this is a great way to make a difference in their lives.  Any support, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated,” said Becky French, Executive Director of Special Pals.
