The incident took place at the home on Killough Drive near West Montgomery Road around 3 a.m.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said a man named Daniel Alexander Rodriguez-Olivares was speeding in a 2016 BMW 340i on Killough Drive. At some point, Rodriguez-Olivares reportedly lost control of the car. Deputies said he crashed through a wooden barricade, went into the air, and crossed a bayou. Rodriguez then crashed his vehicle into a second wooden barricade and continued driving. The driver’s vehicle reportedly went into a retention ditch on the other side of the roadway, struck a fence, rolled over, and struck three more fences, causing damage to a nearby home, HCSO said.

Rodriguez-Olivares, who was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the collision, then began to smash glass in an attempt to break into the home where the crash took place while his passenger remained in the car, suffering from grave injuries.

He reportedly banged on the door and yelled for help and was later able to get inside after throwing something through a back window.

Two adults who were inside the home called 911.

SEE ALSO: DRUNK DRIVING

When EMS arrived, they found the driver passed out on a bed in the family’s home.

The passenger in the crash, described as a young woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rodriguez-Olivares was taken to a nearby hospital and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

This incident remains under investigation by the HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division.
