BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – A Brazoswood High School teacher has been indicted and charged in connection to a child sexual assault case from 2007.
According to court documents, Brandyn Hargrove was indicted on six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact, and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure. She was arrested on Thursday. She has since posted a $240,000 bond and been released from the Brazoria County Jail, according to jail records.
Brazosport ISD released a statement on Hargrove’s indictment.
“We have been made aware that a Brazoswood High School teacher, Brandyn Hargrove, has been indicted and charged with multiple counts of sexual misconduct of a minor from 2007. Upon notification of the investigation initiated by an outside agency on September 29, 2023, Brazosport ISD took immediate action and placed the employee on administrative leave to ensure that the employee did not have contact with students. As a result of these charges, the district has initiated employment-related actions to separate her employment.
Please know that our responsibility to care for and protect the children entrusted to us is never taken lightly. If any parents, students, or former students have concerns, please contact Brazoswood High School Principal Rita Pintavalle or Brazosport ISD Police Chief, Wade Nichols. Brazosport ISD expects the highest standard of professionalism and integrity from its employees to ensure a safe learning environment.”
Brandyn Hargrove is a well-known teacher at Brazoswood High School. Parents and sources tell KPRC 2 she is a former Teacher of the Year. Brazosport ISD said the district first learned about the investigation in September.
Mike Walls’ son is a current student. He said his oldest son had Hargrove as a teacher years ago.
“I think every parent is concerned about this,” said Mike Walls.
He said Hargrove is well thought of in the district.
“She’s won numerous awards. She sat on our education foundation for the district,” said Walls.
Clute Police Chief, James Fitch, said Hargrove had a relationship with a former student when she was 15 to 17 years old. Hargrove, now 43, would have been around 27 years old at the time.
KPRC 2 Reporter Corley Peel went to Hargrove’s home address that was listed on court records, but no one answered the door. She reached out to her attorney, Aaron Perry, but he said he did not wish to comment about the case.
Chief Fitch said investigators do not have any evidence indicating there could be more victims.
