‘I’m a procrastinator’: Could you wait this long to holiday shop?

“Oh, you know. Just some good last minute shopping,” said one shopper.

HOUSTON – Believe it or not, there are still some people out there getting in some last minute Christmas shopping as the final hours of Christmas Eve tick away.

Santa Claus will be dropping gifts down chimney’s in Houston within the next few hours, but some of our neighbor’s still need to put theirs under the tree.

“Oh, you know. Just some good last minute shopping,” said Scott Jackson.

He’s here looking for a quick present for his two boys.

Meanwhile, others are searching for something to top off a stocking and even a custom gift for family. During their search, shoppers stopped by the Walgreens at the corner of Buffalo Speedway and Bissonnet Street.

“Just want to make sure that everyone has something special and personalized,” said Ashley Partain.

“Every year it’s the same way,” Jackson added.

Others cracking into their creative thinking to churn out the perfect gift less than 12 hours before Christmas.

“I just wasn’t able to get gifts for two of my nieces and nephews, so I printed out a little paper that I designed that says IOU and they get to choose some gifts,” said Paola Pineda.

Now you might be wondering, how do you wait until literally the 11th hour to do your Christmas shopping? Well, let’s just say it’s not perfect planning.

“I’m a procrastinator, so it happens a lot,” said Ashlyn Duty.

“I think you go in every year planning and thinking you’ll plan better and then at the end there’s always just a little bit of rush,” Partain added.

Big box stores like Walmart and Target are closing up on Sunday evening and won’t reopen until Tuesday. However, there are a few places you can snag an ultra-late gift.

Walgreens has some 24-hour stores and could be the perfect place for that perfect gift.
