Bond revoked in previous case for woman accused of stabbing 17-year-old to death in Galleria area

Investigators say Kaysone Sky Blossom stabbed her ex-boyfriend in 2021.

HOUSTON – A 37-year-old woman accused of stabbing a teen to death while the girl was on her way to work in the Galleria area appeared in court Wednesday.

Kaysone Sky Blossom is charged with capital murder in the stabbing of 17-year-old Kayla Stevenson over a designer bag. She has received no bond for the case.

The state moved to revoke Blossom’s bond on a pending case where she is accused of stabbing her ex-boyfriend in February 2021. In that case, she was charged with aggravated assault of a family member.

Blossom’s defense attorney, Mandy Miller, said that if the state files a motion and can prove that a defendant violated a condition of a bond, the judge can revoke that bond in the interest of the community or the victim.

“At this point, both sides are gathering the evidence in the case, what we call the discovery. Of course, there’s going to be a lot of witness statements and surveillance videos, and so we’re going to be going through that and of course, investigating Miss Blossom’s mental health history,” Miller said.

Dana Nazarova, a chief prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney Office’s Homicide Division, said some of Blossom’s PR bond conditions included not having weapons and not having law violations.

“The facts include the investigation was done by the police department, how they were able to track down this defendant and what tied her to the capital murder,” Nazarova said.

Nazarova said detectives with the Houston Police Department were able to track down surveillance videos and statements from witnesses.

“It sounds like she did make a purchase at Walmart early in the morning of the day of the murder. She got rid of the blue bicycle the same day as well, so that’s kind of what we have,” Nazarova said.

According to Nazarova, the trial for Blossom’s previous case was delayed due to a pending mental evaluation “that was just not done or there were different reasons why it was not done.”

In March, there will be a hearing to determine if Blossom can continue to be held without bond for the murder charge.
