FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Fort Bend Independent School District announced Tuesday that all 51 elementary schools will now have designated armed security officers on campus when students return from winter break.
The decision was made after the support from the Fort Bend community during the recent voter-approved tax rate election.

During a December board meeting, the trustees approved $2.5 million to fund the district-wide security guard services. This allows the district to deliver a state legislative mandate requiring armed personnel at all schools.
The security officers will also serve as role models and mentors by building positive relationships with the students and staff. Officers will arrive at their assigned campuses on Tuesday to meet the school staff and will serve their roll when students return on Thursday.
