Injured pelican rescued in SE Harris County catches ride in patrol vehicle to animal shelter

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – An injured pelican was rescued by authorities in southeast Harris County Wednesday night, according to the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office.

Deputies received a call about an injured pelican in the 14100 block of Middlebrook Drive.

When Pct. 8 arrived, they found the animal and took it to a rescue in Santa Fe, Texas. The pelican got VIP treatment and rode in the back of a patrol vehicle.

He had a big beak and even posed for some photos with deputies.

The animal is expected to receive the best care at the rescue and hopefully make a speedy recovery.
