The constable deputy caught up to the vehicles and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. One of the vehicles pulled over and the other continued traveling at a high rate of speed, authorities said.
The deputy constable reportedly pursued the vehicle as it accelerated to speeds over 130 MPH. The vehicle continued to evade southbound on the Gulf Freeway, nearly striking another vehicle. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop near Bay Area Boulevard, where a felony stop was conducted.
The driver was detained and identified as 21-year-old Regan Elise Slusher. According to investigators, Peters displayed multiple signs of intoxication. The deputy constable conducted sobriety tests and Slusher was allegedly determined to be drunk.
Slusher was charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and driving while intoxicated. Charges for racing on the highway were declined.
Slusher was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, where her bonds were set at $2,600.
