HOUSTON – After a short two day break, rain is set to return to southeast Texas on Friday.
Similar to a few days ago, it looks like the heaviest rainfall will be focused on coastal areas as a storm system moves across Texas from the desert southwest US.

First, lets do a recap of what we saw on Tuesday evening.
TUESDAY EVENING’S RAIN
We did get a decent amount of rainfall on Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall was seen in coastal counties where many places saw between an inch and an inch and a half of rainfall. The further north you went, the less rainfall you saw.
OUR NEXT RAINMAKER
Southeast Texas’ next rainmaker moves into the picture Friday morning. Expect scattered storms to show up early. Future track is picking up rainfall before the morning rush hour even begins so plan accordingly for a wet and messy commute. Some areas could see multiple waves of heavy rain tracking across the same spots anywhere from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Once again, coastal counties seem to be where the heaviest rainfall will occur. Places like Brazoria, Galveston, and Chambers Counties are where you can expect the most in terms of rainfall accumulations.
By midday, the system should begin to depart southeast Texas, taking the rain with it from west to east. We aren’t expecting any severe storms with this system, however, some areas could see pockets of heavy downpours that could lead to some feeder road flooding or low-lying areas.
By 3 p.m., the rain should be out of southeast Texas, leaving clearing skies in it’s wake.
As far as projected rainfall totals, Houston itself looks to get maybe just over a half inch of rainfall. Heavier totals will be seen along the coast where some areas could see in excess of two inches before the rain comes to an end Friday afternoon.

After the rain on Friday, the weekend will be a nice one with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-60s. Our next rainmaker will be approaching Sunday evening and will lead to more storm chances come Monday.
Right now, the Storm Tracker 2 Team is predicting an 60% chance of rainfall for Monday. Details on this event will be ironed out the closer we get so check back for more information as we get closer.
