HOUSTON – NRG Park is partnering with the nonprofit No Trafficking Zone to combat human trafficking during the 2024 CFP National Championship weekend in Houston.
“No Trafficking Zone is a 501c3 organization dedicated to disrupting and dismantling human trafficking,” said Jacquelyn Aluotto with No Trafficking Zone.
It was started by community leaders. The group does research and finds where criminals are targeting women and children to traffic them, then they try to put an end to this.
Aluotto said that during big sporting events, there’s more people in an area, so the demand for human trafficking increases.
Here are some of the signs that someone is being trafficked.
- If a person is being controlled or dominated by someone else
- If someone is not allowed to carry their own identification card or money
- If someone is talking to a person, but they keep looking at someone else for approval
- If someone doesn’t make eye contact
- If a person always has to be with someone else around them, no matter where they go
NRG Park officials said they want everyone to be safe this weekend.
“Our partnership with the No Trafficking Zone - Game Over Initiative reinforces (safety) by actively addressing and preventing human trafficking during major events. This is such an important issue for our community and we’re glad we can help address this issue head-on to better protect everyone who walks through the gates of NRG Park,” NRG Park organizers said.
