Winter weather extravaganza 🥶

Bundled in layers, Southeast Texas woke up to a winter spectacle this morning as scattered light wintry mixes unfolded across the region. The National Weather Service’s forecast for Houston and Galveston offers a glimpse into the chilly days ahead. The day promises lingering light freezing rain, drizzle, and the occasional snow or sleet until late afternoon.

Brace yourselves for the evening, as winds are set to become breezy to windy, with gusts of 20 to 25 mph inland and even higher along the coast.

The combination of brisk north winds and plummeting temperatures will usher in frigid wind chill values tonight and persist through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Maritime enthusiasts are forewarned, with hazardous conditions expected due to strong north winds and elevated seas. Small Craft Advisories are in effect for bays and Gulf waters, and a Gale Warning has been upgraded from late tonight through noon Tuesday. Houstonians are urged to stay weather-aware as Winter Weather Advisories, Wind Chill Advisories, and Hard Freeze Warnings pepper the forecast.
