HOUSTON – Despite falling short in the AFC Divisional Round, fans of the Houston Texans are taking pride in the team’s historic season and are looking ahead to next season with their hopes bright.
At an official watch party Saturday, fans had high hopes for the team.
“We are going to go to the Super Bowl and rock it out,” said Texans fan Jacqueline Grant.
Despite the loss, there was no mass disappointment among fans in downtown Houston.
“Let it go, be grateful for the season that we had. We had a wonderful season, made the playoffs, won the wild card,” said Nicholas Carreon.
It was a tremendous season after what fans have had to endure in recent years.. Following last Saturday’s victory, the city was overwhelmed with enthusiasm for the Texans. All week long, a surge in excitement leading up to the Baltimore game.
At a city watch party outside the George R. Brown convention center, there were large crowds, big screens, and entertaining moves. But, most notably, after their loss there was a common optimistic outlook by fans. The Texans are on the rise.
“We are going to be a contender. People are giving us credit. We used to be a joke. We’re not a joke and people know it,” said Pati Cream.
“CJ Stroud is no joke. He came here and in one year turned this team around to a franchise that nobody expected, and everybody has been wanting for the past three years and he’s here, so if you think we are one and done man you are sorely mistaken,” said Steve Beckholt.
This franchise definitely does not have a one and done foundation to it. This is a team that is building itself to be a force for years to come.
