MISSOURI CITY, Texas – United States Rep. Al Green (D-Houston) said he is worried about whether the USPS mail issues in Missouri City will affect elections.

He held a news conference on Monday to discuss the problems tied to the Missouri City Processing Center and actions being taken to resolve this.

“I’m also looking to the future. As I look into the future, I’m concerned about the upcoming election. I’m concerned about mail ballots. I’m concerned about what could happen if ballots are not handled timely and appropriately,” Green said.

He also asked USPS to talk to the media in person about what is going on.

Green reiterated that they should have a customer service representative to discuss the issues.

At the conference, several people shared how they have been impacted by the delays.

One woman said she never received her wedding dress to wear it for the event. She chose to remain anonymous.

The woman said her dress made it to Missouri City, but it was resent back to Virginia. She mentioned USPS tried to help her, but she never got her package and had to rent another dress.

The woman also said USPS is not returning her money to her.

Green also mentioned the delayed delivery reports that customers have submitted to the congressional office. He is planning to tour the Missouri City facility soon.

KPRC 2′s Corley Peel has covered several stories on the mail problems that have impacted customers in the Houston area and other parts of the United States. At this time, there is still no timeline for when USPS will fix the delays.
