MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – At least 17 people and 15 animals had to be rescued in Montgomery County due to high water on Wednesday.
Several residents, eight dogs, and a cat were rescued from Allen Drive after strong storms moved through the area.
In the same area, crews had to rescue a man who was trapped in his tractor. Authorities said the man was using the tractor to try to get off his property, but the water levels were too high and he became stranded. Family members noticed and called for help. Emergency crews were able to get him to higher ground.
“My father got stuck, he tried to come on the tractor but he got stuck mid way through, the tractor turned off,” said Caleb Montez.
Joan Allen’s mother lives further up the street. She was able to evacuate her before it was too late.
“We actually all came over to help get her some stuff out and moved her car and get her to higher ground,” she said.
Lake Conroe Firefighters said that evacuations are voluntary at the moment in area.
Allen Drive near FM 2854 is not passable in some locations. ESD3 said some homes were also flooding.
Many people have also reported their boats have gotten loose on the Lake Conroe. Officials have been trying to help people recover their boats.
The San Jacinto River Authority said it is monitoring rain conditions and the Lake Conroe dam.

“If you live in a low-lying area that is prone to flooding, be prepared to evacuate as the water is continuing to rise. Any areas around the San Jacinto River and the Lake Creek area will flood,” ESD3 officials said.
Officials in Montgomery County said they will be working throughout the night offering assistance as needed. They have also been working with a company called Towboats USA to secure boats that may have drifted away.
