LIST: Houston-area roads closed due to high water

HOUSTON – Strong rain is hitting the Houston area and Southeast Texas on Wednesday. This is causing some road closures due to the high water.

  • FM-2920 Westbound At SH 249/Tomball Pkwy to Telge Rd, 1 Mainlane, Right Shoulder, Closed beginning Wednesday, January 24, 2024 9:00 AM
  • FM-149 Northbound Between Stillwater Blvd to Mitchell Rd, All Mainlanes, Closed beginning Wednesday, January 24, 2024 9:00 AM
  • FM-149 Southbound Between Mitchell Rd to Stillwater Blvd, 1 Mainlane, Left Shoulder, Right Shoulder, Closed beginning Wednesday, January 24, 2024 9:00 AM

Harris County

16899 US-90: There is high water and minor flooding westbound between Sheldon and Miller Road on the entrance and exit ramp.

Magnolia

FM 149 is closed in both directions near Stillwater. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

Montgomery County

Some of the roads are closed while others are partially closed.

  • 100 Block of Fish Creek Thoroughfare North Bound Lane
  • 17600 Block of Mt Zion Road
  • 16300 Block of Rogers Road
  • Johnson Road at FM 1486
  • 18400 Block of FM 149 at Little Lake Creek
  • County Line at Caney Creek
  • Milmac at Caney Creek (Bridge Closed)
  • 10200 Block of South Williams
  • 33400 Block of Wright Road
  • Billinoski Road

Polk County

Due to the heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours in Polk County, residents are encouraged to stay away from the following roadways:

  • Duff Rd @ Menard Creek -- impassable
  • Kitty Wells Rd -- impassable
  • Crystal Lakes -- impassable, wash-out
  • 350 @ Long King Creek -- impassable
  • 350 @ Sandy Creek -- impassable
  • Clark Spring @ Latimer -- impassable, wash-out
  • Dove Rd -- impassable
  • Yarbrough Loop -- proceed with caution, extensive road and shoulder damage
  • Upper Leggett Rd --- sinkholes, hazardous conditions
  • Redhorse -- sinkholes, hazardous conditions
  • River Lakes -- possible highwater, hazardous conditions
  • Stryker Rd --- impassable
  • 1276 @ Double A Lakes -- proceed with caution
  • 942 multiple locations -- proceed with caution

Waller County

These roads are currently not passable in Waller County:

  • McGregor Road at FM 362
  • Hegar Road South of Joseph
  • Old Houston at Clear Creek
  • Joseph Road near 3 Mile Creek
  • FM 362 North of Mayer Road
  • Fields Store Road at the Creek
  • Old Kickapoo Road
  • Scroggins Road
  • North Reid’s Prairie at Clark Road
  • FM 362 North of Mayer Road
