NE Houston homeowner frustrated over partygoers tearing up yard during large block parties

HOUSTON – Hundreds of partygoers showed up to a block party near Laura Koppe and Shady Roads Sunday night. Blue and red lights soared through the neighborhood as the police told people to move. Trail riders on horses moved through the streets. ATV’s drove by, making their way through the large crowds of people.

“This goes on at least once every month,” said William Wilson.

Wilson said many partygoers park on his property. He showed KPRC 2 the tire tracks in his grass.

“This is what they leave behind and it makes me so angry. I have a fence up, I have a sign that says ‘private property no trespassing’ but guess what? It doesn’t mean anything,” said Wilson.

Wilson said he has been a victim of a crime more than once and was even held at gunpoint while confronting people on his property.

“I had a 2019 Ram Dually stolen. I had three guns pulled on me.” said Wilson.

Police also showed up to a different large block party on Saturday on Homestead. Partygoers said the large parties happen every year at the end of January.

“Saturday was Lafaye day and today is E-day,” said partygoer, Lequira Mack.

“Today we’re having a birthday party for a girl. I don’t know her name but I saw it on social media,” said one partygoer.

KPRC 2 asked Mack if she ever worries about the parties getting out of control.

“Yes sometimes I do but I’m not going to lie, I feel more secure this year because last year there weren’t any police,” said Mack.

It is unclear if any permits were approved to hold the parties. KPRC 2 is working to find that out. Police at the scene did not provide any information. KPRC 2 did not witness any arrests Sunday night.

Wilson said it is not the party that bothers him.

“Just leave my piece of dirt alone!” said Wilson.

He just wants drivers off his property.
