TYLER, Texas – The father of NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been arrested and charged for allegedly driving while under the influence in Texas just days before his son is set to play in the Super Bowl.
According to arrest records, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested in Smith County on Saturday, February 3 and charged with DWI third of more offenses.

Mahomes Sr, 53, was arrested by the Tyler Police Department.
His mugshot was posted to the Smith County jail records portal.
Online records show the father of the all-star Kansas City Chief’s quarterback was given a $10,000 bond. According to those same records, he was released on Sunday.
This isn’t Mahomes Sr.’s first run-in with the law enforcement. In 2018, he was charged with his second DWI and sentenced to 40 days in prison. He served those days on the weekends starting February 2019 through February 2020, according to NBC Sports.
If convicted, Mahomes Sr. could face two to 10 years in prison.
