Missing New Orleans family’s bus ticket shows stop in Mexico, last seen in Houston

Two days after New Orleans Police Department alerted the public about a missing family of four, KPRC 2 has learned they could be in Mexico.

Police said the family disappeared during a move from Louisiana to Texas.

New Orleans Police said Steys Yanira David-Funez, 27, her husband Ramon Ruiz Crisanto, 31, and their two daughters Jazzlyn Esther Ruiz David, 4, and Dara Ismeray Ruiz David, 1, have not been seen since Nov. 30, 2023.

KPRC 2 Reporter Corley Peel spoke with Stesy David’s family members who said it is unlike her to not be in contact with her loved ones.

David’s grandparents, Farid Miranda and Dilcia Miranda, live in Houston. They said they had been worried sick.

“We think about it every day, every night we can’t sleep thinking about her. It’s so sad,” said Farid Miranda.

The family of four is originally from Honduras but has been living in New Orleans. Stesy David’s father, Roberto David, told Corley he dropped the family off at a Greyhound bus stop in New Orleans on November 30th.

He said the family planned to meet up with Roman Ruiz’s uncle once they got to Houston. The uncle told Roberto David he never heard from the family when they arrived.

Roberto David shared the text messages his daughter sent him once the family arrived at the bus stop off Harrisburg Boulevard. She told him they had a delay, but they were getting food.

“They were going to look for something to eat and they disappeared,” said Farid Miranda.

Roberto David said he has not heard from his daughter since. He said he usually talks to his daughter three times a day.

The family contacted the Honduran consulate who found the family’s Greyhound bus ticket. KPRC 2 obtained the ticket that shows the family made it to Houston. They got on another bus to McAllen and ultimately stopped in Monterrey Mexico.

Corley spoke with Stesy David’s sister, Stephany David. She said her sister briefly lived in Mexico for two months before she moved to New Orleans, but she has no idea why she would be there now.

KPRC2 reached out to New Orleans Police to see if they have been in contact with authorities in Mexico. A spokesperson said they cannot confirm, but they are focused on finding the missing family.

Anyone with information about the missing family is asked to call New Orleans Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060.
