HOUSTON – Law enforcement leaders are sharing their plan to help officers who were involved in the Lakewood Church shooting on Sunday.
According to officials, those who were working at the church will be receiving mental health care after someone opened fire in the lobby, causing an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and officers.

The suspect, Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36, of Conroe, was ultimately shot and killed by an officer with the Houston Police Department, and an officer with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
The Houston Police Officers’ Union told KPRC 2 Investigates that the HPD officer involved in the shooting, as well as responding officers, will have access to the department and union peer support teams as well as receive any psychology treatment if needed.

Union President Doug Griffith tells us HPOU reached out to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission or TABC to offer their officer who was involved in the shooting additional mental health resources as well.
Both officers involved in the Lakewood Church shooting were placed on administrative leave pending the ongoing investigation.
