PASADENA – On Tuesday, Pasadena City officials, volunteers, and various organizations will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the city’s animal shelter.
In January of 2023, a tornado ripped the roof off the facility on Burke Road.
In a press release, officials said the damage caused by the tornado went far beyond what could be seen from the outside. Comprehensive inspections revealed that the tornado not only severely damaged the roof, but also negatively impacted crucial operating systems within the building.
The rebuilding process has been nothing short of a labor of love, with the community rallying together to support the shelter’s resurrection.

The new Pasadena Animal Shelter is equipped with upgraded electrical and HVAC systems, new floors, and a new roof which includes a stabilized system with support columns drilled into concrete foundation piers. This reinforces the strength of the roof to better withstand extreme weather.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will start at 10 A.M. The shelter will open to the public at 2 P.M.
