LISTEN: 911 calls connected to Lakewood Church shooter

" I have guns in my house, and I just don’t know how to approach this anymore.”

HOUSTON, Texas – The City of Conroe Police Department has released recordings of 911 calls to KPRC 2 Investigates in connection with Genesee Moreno, the woman who walked into Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church and started shooting.

Conroe Police Department responded to KPRC 2, stating that it has reviewed calls for service related to Moreno. The review included calls that Moreno was either the “complainant” and/or a “suspect.”

The 21 calls uncovered by KPRC 2 Investigates date back to December 2019. They include calls from family concerned for Moreno, arguments with neighbors and even Moreno making claims against her now ex-husband.

911 Dispatcher: “So, what exactly is your ex-husband saying to you?”

Genesse Moreno: “Well, first of all, he’s texting me. So my numbers say that my professor. My, my philosophy professor? I go to school full time.”

In another call, Moreno claims that her ex-husband’s mother is harassing her.

Genesse Moreno: “His mom is harassing me, telling me that she wants me to go pick him up. So we need to work things out with him if they’re going to file kidnapping charges. Because I have my son and I’ve had him for three years.”

In a separate call, she says her ex-husband is acting as an FBI agent and communicating with her through her professor’s phone number.

Genesse Moreno: “Someone, an FBI agent is contacting me regarding my son and trying to find out where my son is, and wanting to make sure that my son is safe. It has to be him. And they’re using my professor’s phone number.”

In other calls, both Moreno and her neighbors called to lodge complaints against one another.

Neighbor: “She was playing vulgar rap on. She moved it from the driveway to the backyard in between our houses. I’m in the bathtub and I can hear every word.”

Some of those altercations turned physical. Moreno claims she was assaulted while her neighbor says Moreno sprayed her with a hose.

Neighbor: “She sprayed me down with a hose. We’ve had numerous problems with our nuisance in the neighborhood. And she said guns and everything else.”

That same neighbor telling police they feel the need for protection in a separate 911 call.

Neighbor: “Yeah, I’m just stressed to the max. My husband comes home, straps on a gun.”

Moreno: “Okay. If I go outside with my gun.”

911 Dispatcher: “No no no no no, don’t do that. Don’t get yourself in trouble. Just stay in the house.”

These are just a small snippet of the 911 calls provided by the Conroe Police Department.
