HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 12-year-old is now dead after being ejected from her aunt’s vehicle in Harris County Sunday night.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office’s X page, deputies were called to the 7700 block of State Highway 99 regarding the accident at around 11:20 p.m.

HCSO said that a 36-year-old woman, last name Rangel-Ramos, was driving on SH-99, heading to her home in Conroe after visiting San Antonio for the weekend.
The woman reportedly had five other people in her vehicle including her 56-year-old mother and children ages 1, 3, 12, 16.
Deputies said that at some point, the woman drove off the roadway, striking a cable barrier system which caused the vehicle to roll. Her 12-year-old niece Camila was said to have been unrestrained while in the vehicle and was ejected during the crash.
Officials pronounced the child dead at the scene.
A 16-year-old was taken to the hospital and reportedly has a broken clavicle. The other passengers were transported to a hospital and are expected to be OK.
The woman has been cooperating with the investigation, according to HCSO, and showed no signs of intoxication.
HCSO Vehicular Crimes Units is investigating the incident.
It is unclear if the aunt will face any charges in this case.
All lanes on the roadway have since been reopened.
The HCSO sent KPRC 2 the following statement:
“Last night, Harris County Sheriff’s Office units responded to a fatal crash at the 7700 blk of SH-99, near West Road.
At about 11:20 pm, Ms. Rangel-Ramos (36) was driving on SH-99. She was returning from visiting San Antonio for the weekend and was heading home to Conroe.
She had 5 people in tow, including her mother (56) and children ages 1,3,12,16.
For unknown reasons, Ms. Rangel drove off the roadway, striking a cable barrier system and began to roll. 12-yr-old Camila was unrestrained and was ejected during the crash. She was found on-scene with no signs of life. All others were transported to a hospital, but the only other reported injury is to the 16 year old with a broken clavicle.
Ms. Rangel cooperated with the investigation and showed no signs of intoxication. She is the aunt of the deceased girl.”
