10-year-old flown to hospital, 2 pets killed in Deer Park mobile home fire

A 10 year-old was flown to the hospital after a mobile home caught on fire Monday morning, according to the Deer Park Fire Department. (KPRC)

DEER PARK, Texas – A 10 year-old was flown to the hospital after a mobile home caught on fire Monday morning, according to the Deer Park Fire Department.

Two pets were also killed in the blaze.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene in the 4400 block of Durant Avenue at about 1:40 a.m. due to a fire in the back of a trailer park.

When firefighters arrived, they found the home was heavily on fire. The child was also outside of the home with his family.

The 10-year-old suffered significant burns and injuries, and they were flown to a local hospital in stable condition. The other family members were not injured, but their two pets died in the blaze.

A firefighter was also injured and assessed at the scene.

The blaze was later contained, and authorities are still investigating what caused the fire.
