Man taken to hospital, several pets die in North Houston house fire

A man was taken to the hospital after his house caught on fire in north Houston on Monday, the Houston Fire Department said. (KPRC)

HOUSTON – A man was taken to the hospital after his house caught on fire in north Houston on Monday, the Houston Fire Department said.

The blaze happened in the 3800 block of Orange Grove Drive at about 12:45 a.m.

Firefighters were then dispatched to the house after being told there was a person trapped inside.

First responders arrived at the house and began fighting the fire. There was heavy smoke and flames in the front of the house.

Firefighters were able to rescue a man inside the home. They took him outside and had to do CPR on him. Medics later took over when they arrived at the scene.

He was taken to a local hospital, and his condition is unknown.

Several pets also died inside of the home due to smoke inhalation.

This fire is still being investigated.
