On Sunday, Gonzalez said the woman, identified as Tanasia Bush, 33, died from her injuries.
The man, identified as Phillip Hickman, was treated and released for a wound to his arm. He reportedly cooperated with investigators and provided a statement to investigators about the incident, which Gonzalez said was consistent with information given by witnesses at the scene.
Gonzalez said the plan was to refer the case to a grand jury upon the completion of the investigation, however, Hickman was said to be distraught and his family was searching for him.
Gonzalez said family members found him Sunday at a school parking lot in the 14700 block of Woodforest.
As family members approached, Gonzalez said Hickman shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Our condolences go out to everyone impacted by these two deaths,” Gonzalez said.
