HOUSTON – There’s no doubt the fourth largest city in the United States has sports teams that can compete on an international level, an unparalleled dining experience dealing with mouthwatering cuisines, and a top-notch workforce.
The secret in our sauce works when the community bands together!
So, what’s new? KPRC 2 is launching a series called ‘Our Town.’ Click on the video box below to hear all about it!
Our Town will take an in-depth look at 10 communities in our area that are overcoming day-to-day adversities.
The new series will begin exploring the Alief/Westwood area, one of the most populated neighborhoods, which is known for making waves with its innovative initiatives and vibrant community spirit.
First, we will delve into the history of these neighborhoods and how they have become a melting pot of different cultures and languages.
With over 100 languages spoken, Alief/Westwood is a testament to the rich diversity of Houston.
One crucial aspect of any community is its relationship with law enforcement. KPRC 2 Anchor Andy Cerota will be speaking with representatives from the Houston Police Department to shed light on their community policing efforts. We will discover the effective solutions implemented by the department and their impact on the residents.
Infrastructure and flooding issues are also a significant concern for business owners around Brays Bayou. KPRC 2 Meteorologist Daji Aswad will take a closer look at these challenges and explore the measures being taken to mitigate them.
In addition, we cannot ignore the mouthwatering delights that Houstonians love, including crawfish season. KPRC 2 Reporter Gage Goulding went on a tasty adventure to Louisiana to bring us an Insider’s perspective on the price of these delectable mudbugs.
Also, KPRC 2 Rilwan Balogun will take us on a special journey as he explores his roots in Alief/Westwood. With one of the largest Nigerian populations in the area, Rilwan will provide unique insights into the Nigerian community’s contributions and experiences.
To complete our coverage, we will engage with local leaders from the Chinese and Vietnamese communities who are tirelessly working to build a stronger and more united Alief/Westwood.
Make sure to tune in to KPRC’s ‘Our Town: Alief/Westwood’ all day Thursday. Stay informed about the remarkable stories that unfold in this vibrant community!
