Patterson is described as a white, 23-year-old man. He is a probationer out of Harris County.
According to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were contacted by the TDCJ around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning about the inmate, who was said to have left the Stringfellow Unit.
“The Stringfellow unit hasn’t had an escape at least in the past five years, whenever I went back and looked at the data,” said the TDCJ Director of the Communications Amanda Hernandez. “TDCJ has had a few escapes in the past couple of years but if you think about it an inmate has 24/7 to think of ways to beat our security protocols, right, so we are constantly working to improve our protocols, improve our processes and procedures to make sure that these things don’t happen and if they do happen in a situation like this we are able to catch them really quickly.”
