2 neighbors shot by men in masks during robbery in SW Houston neighborhood

HOUSTON – Two neighbors were shot by men in masks during a robbery Friday night, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police were dispatched to a house at the 8700 block of Shadowcrest Street just before 11 p.m. Friday due to a robbery.

Officers said a family had just arrived home from getting groceries, when they were approached by masked men with guns.

The men stole a bag of documents, while holding the family at gunpoint. A fight ensued outside the home. The father fought back, which prevented the men from getting into the home. The men fired at least two shots. One bullet traveled through the door and struck the father in the foot. Another bullet went through a wall into a child’s bedroom.

Juan Carlos Euceda lives at the home. He said he thought this was his final moments. He said he’s not sure what would have happened if the men made it inside the home.

As this was happening, the neighbor was arriving home. According to Euceda, the neighbor saw and heard the robbery and shooting and took off. This is when the men shot at the neighbor in his car. He was struck in the back. His girlfriend drove him to the hospital where he is in critical condition.

Surveillance video from inside the home of the family targeted captured video at 10:23 p.m. Friday night. The family said they did not lose internet or power; but for some reason the surveillance cameras did not capture the moments of the robbery or shooting. The next video on the system is time stamped 2:50 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police are still searching for the robbery suspects. Investigators do not have a description of the men. If you have any information that could help investigators with this case, you’re asked to call Houston Police Department.
