FREDERICKSBURG, Texas – A total eclipse is coming to Texas on April 8, and people across the country are making plans to see the show.

Some folks are even purchasing flights from Dallas to Detroit to view the eclipse from the air in real-time.
For those staying on the ground, central Texas promises to have great opportunities to see the eclipse, and the summit of Enchanted Rock will provide exceptional viewing.
The state park in Fredericksburg is in the path of totality, but if you’re hoping to get a pass, here’s what you need to know:
- Passes are available Monday, March 11 starting at 8 a.m.... but you can ONLY get them by phone.
- The Summit Trail will be open for eclipse viewing unless there is rain or severe weather. Keep in mind that it takes 45 minutes on average to reach the summit from the gazebo.
- Call the Customer Service Center at (512) 389-8900 to purchase a pass.
The solar eclipse will pass over the United States, Canada and Mexico. It will be the first total solar eclipse to be visible in Canada since 1979, the first in Mexico since 1991 and the first in the United States since 2017.
The next time such an eclipse will be visible in the contiguous United States will be Aug. 23, 2044.
