HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man was charged on Saturday for chasing a suspect who allegedly stole his vehicle and shooting him to death in northeast Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Dushawn Caples, 30, was charged with murder in connection to the shooting.

The sheriff’s office said it happened in the 15100 block of Golden Eagle Drive around 3:55 a.m.
stated the individual refused to stop at which time, he fired shots into the car, causing the victim to crash. A murder charge was filed and Caples was booked in the Harris County Jail. The deceased male has not yet been identified.

Caples reported that his black sedan had been stolen from an apartment complex.
He took his wife’s gray SUV and chased the stolen vehicle.
Caples said the suspect did not stop, so he shot into the car and struck the suspect. He then crashed the sedan into a parked vehicle.
The suspect was later found dead by deputies. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the person who died as 17-year-old Darnell Cotton.

There was also an unknown passenger in the black sedan, who ran away from the car with a backpack.
Caples was later arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.
