Princess Kate Middleton admits an image of her, and her children shared yesterday on official palace social media accounts was edited.
The photo was released to celebrate Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom and it was the first photo released of the Princess this year. But it didn’t take long for news agencies and a lot of people on the internet to call out what looked like photoshop errors.

News agencies including the Associated Press (AP) and Reuters removed the photo because of concern it had been digitally altered. In comments and on social media, people started demanding answers from the Royal Family.
Princess Kate then released this statement Monday:
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,” she wrote on X. “I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”
One of the most obvious things pointed out by people in the comments is the cuff part of Princess Charlotte’s sleeve doesn’t line up correctly.
There’s also an area behind Prince Louis’ knee that doesn’t line up correctly and part of Princess Kate’s hair awkwardly disappears on her jacket.
The photo release Sunday comes after a long public absence for Princess Kate. She’s been recovering from surgery and was in the hospital for a few weeks in January. There has been a lot of speculation about her health and people were excited to see a new photo. The photo was quickly flooded with comments from people questioning if it was real. Princess Kate now admitting she edited the photo is only adding to the speculation.
