One of the biggest moments for fans was when the music icon himself, Bun B., introduced an up-and-coming rapper from our neck of the woods to the more than 75,000 attendees.
That Mexican OT has been blazing trails in the rap game for a few years, with no sign of letting up anytime soon.
This was his debut performance at RodeoHouston, and those in attendance said it was nothing short of amazing.
In a recent interview, OT, whose birthname is Virgil Gazca, said he has been rapping and performing since the age of 5 years old.
“I’ve been performing my whole life,” he said to Spin.com in 2023. “I was sitting on the bed rapping to music videos while my mom ironed money on the floor. My dad would wake me up in seventh grade — house full of women and dudes — and he’d want me to eat these dudes up in rap battles. I’ve been performing. Now, I’m just getting paid for it.”
OT was born and raised in Bay City and says that his rap name stands for ‘That Mexican Outta Texas,’ which shows just how proud he is to be from the Lone Star State.
During his childhood, OT’s dad was reportedly incarcerated while his mother worked to make ends meet. When he was just 8 years old, he says his mom was killed by an intoxicated driver at the young age of 26.
He was able to overcome adversity and graduate from Stony Point High School in Austin.

His single, “Johnny Dang” is a hit throughout the Houston area and boasts about the local socialite/jeweler, Johnny Dang. Dang is known for his vibrant personality, high-end, exclusive jewelry, and lacing rappers and athletes up his custom drip.
