HOUSTON – It’s officially springtime in Houston -- which means bluebonnets are returning (along with allergy attacks), and families are flocking to experience all the fun RodeoHouston has to offer.
But as we move from winter into spring, our area often experiences wild weather, and this year is no exception.

Heavy rain with a severe weather threat arrives in Houston tomorrow and lingers through Sunday.
If you’re planning to head to the rodeo - here are all of the ways event planners are working to keep guests safe.
“Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and NRG Park staff use an extensive weather reporting service to ensure we are prepared,” said communications director Danielle Grossman.
“Security and emergency personnel constantly monitor weather conditions. In the event of severe weather, Rodeo officials will determine which, if any, safety measures are needed. These measures may include but are not limited to, closing any temporary venues such as tented structures, carnival and/or other outdoor venues, or complete grounds evacuation.”
If winds exceed 30 miles per hour, or there’s a combination of rain and lightning, RodeoHouston will play a prerecorded message telling guests where to go to seek shelter.
The good news is, RodeoHouston has only ever had to do this once back in 2017. But better safe than sorry!
