‘It’s not worth it’: Fans mourn TikTok fitness influencers reportedly killed in high speed, car crash in Houston

‘The number one factor in this crash is speed,’ HPD said.

HOUSTON – Multiple social media users and fans are reporting that two popular TikTok fitness influencers were killed in a car crash in the Houston area this week.

Reports say that the victims killed in the crash were Baxter Hosley and Garrett ‘Thievin’ MacDonagh.

Sergeant David Rose from the Houston Police Department said that on March 10, the victims were traveling outbound on Highway 90 at around 9:45 p.m.

Video from the scene shows that the white BMW sedan Hosley and Thievin were traveling in slammed so hard into a pole at the Fondren offramp, that it split the car in two.

One of the men inside died at the scene. The other was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The vehicles were reported to have been traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident.

Rose said multiple witnesses told police that the vehicle had been going in and out of lanes with predicted speeds over 100 MPH.

They ultimately lost control of the vehicle, causing the car to split in two.

“This crash (was) very preventable,” Sgt. Rose said. “They didn’t hit a wall. They didn’t hit another vehicle. They were just traveling at a very high rate of speed. Had they been driving anywhere close to the speed limit, (based on) the injuries in this crash, I’m confident that with this type of vehicle, it would’ve not been fatal.”

Rose also said that there is no evidence at the scene of alcohol playing a factor in the crash.

Since the accident, multiple social media accounts and users associated with the two 22-year-olds have confirmed their deaths.

Ekkovision, a supplement company partnered with the two, released a post addressing the situation on Instagram.

“The family lost their sons in a horrific event,” the statement read. “At this moment, we ask you guys to please send your prayers to Baxter and Thievin and their family and the Ekko team.”

A TikTok user named @Trentwins._ also posted a clip from a report of the crash.

“Drive safe guys. It’s not worth it,” a caption on the video reads.

Baxter’s TikTok account (@baxter_fit) currently has over 536K followers, while Thievin’s account (@thievin.gg) has over 92K followers.
