HOUSTON – KPRC 2 is embedding itself in our most historic neighborhoods with our new series ‘Our Town’ where we explore the communities that make our city so dynamic.

Our first stop on the 10 community tour was the Alief/Westwood area, which is known for making waves with its innovative initiatives and vibrant community spirit. We explored different businesses in the neighborhoods and spoke with one Houston Police Department officer about community policing in the area and the lessons that are being used citywide to reduce crime.

For our second stop, we’re hitting Sunnyside, which is located on the southeast side of town. This community is known for its rich history and resilient spirit.

If you know of any places we should explore or people we should meet, visit this post and leave a comment.

Now, that leaves us with our third community to explore, but first, we need your help!

Take part in our poll and tell us where we should be heading next.

We want to explore communities that mean something to you. If you have a neighborhood in mind that’s not listed below, drop us a comment and let us know where we should explore and why.

The KPRC 2 series Our Town is taking an in-depth look at 10 communities in the Houston area that are overcoming day-to-day adversities.

The new series began with exploring the Alief/Westwood area, one of the most populated neighborhoods, which is known for making waves with its innovative initiatives and vibrant community spirit.

We’re looking to learn about the history of these neighborhoods and how they have become a melting pot of different cultures and languages.
