HOUSTON – Texas students and parents are gearing up for another year of STAAR testing, which can be a stressful time for parents helping their kids get prepped.
On KPRC + at 8 a.m., KPRC 2 health reporter Haley Hernandez sat down with Tristian and Racheal Thomas with the Tutoring Club of Cypress to talk about how students and parents can be prepared for the STAAR test and college tests as well.
The local tutoring club has several locations in the Houston area and provides resources for students starting in kindergarten up through 12th grade.
The company provides an array of options such as college planning, SAT prep, STAAR testing, looking scholarships and financial aid for college and guidance.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many students are struggling due to those academic gaps they experienced when the world pretty much shut down. These local tutors said they help fill in those gaps and create customized programs for each student and what they need.
Racheal Thomas said they guide each student based on their level of education and tutor in small groups of two to three students.
As for the costs? The cost varies depending on the level and timing the parent wants their child to rank. The tutors will also help parents set expectations and realistic goals.
Lastly, consistency will be key in helping your child develop and grow in their education.
