Harris County deputy injured after crash while trying to pursue speeding wrong-way driver
Investigators say while the deputy was trying to chase down a speeding vehicle going in the opposite direction, another vehicle hit the officer’s patrol car.
SPRING, Texas – A deputy was hospitalized late Tuesday night while attempting to chase down a wrong-way driver in Spring when another vehicle crashed into the officer.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 11:30 p.m. when deputies were heading westbound in the 8000 block of Louetta.
The officers were en route to a call but saw a speeding vehicle going in the opposite direction, so they made a U-turn to chase down the driver.
That’s when investigators say another vehicle hit the deputy’s patrol car.
We’re told there were two deputies in the patrol vehicle, but only one was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The other driver, officials say, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
