HOUSTON – A mother is behind bars Thursday following an overnight chase with Houston police in Midtown.
It all started when officers say they found a stolen vehicle near Broadway Street and Bellfort around 2:30 a.m. They tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver didn’t stop, so a chase ensued.

Minutes into the chase, police said the driver, an unidentified woman believed to be in her early 20s, let out a passenger.
HPD says that a passenger cooperated with officers and told them a 3-year-old boy was inside the car.
Investigators confirmed the 3-year-old was the driver’s son, which caused officers to stop chasing.
The driver reportedly called HPD’s dispatch and told them she was scared and did not want to stop, but they convinced her to slow down and stop the car. She eventually did in the 1000 block of Holman St. in Midtown, where she was taken into custody.
Police said the 3-year-old was not harmed but the woman will face charges for evading as well as child endangerment.
No additional information was provided, as of this writing, but an investigation remains underway.
