Man in critical condition after girlfriend shoots him during fight near Galleria

HOUSTON – A man is in critical condition after authorities said he was shot by his girlfriend during a fight near the Galleria.

HPD said the shooting happened in the 2600 block of Yorktown Street around 7:30 p.m.

According to police, the girlfriend and boyfriend were in a fight. At one point, the girlfriend said she felt threatened and ended up shooting her boyfriend.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The woman reportedly surrendered to police at the scene.

Authorities said there were two children inside the home during the incident, but were unharmed.

No additional information was shared, as of this writing, but an investigation remains underway.
